With todays action, I think that the weight of the double foot guides with thread and finish more than offsets the minimal (if any) stiffness you would get out of them. That view has been argued for a long time but it isn't really held to be true any more in most of the rodbuilding community.

Only the single foot wire would be lighter. The ceramic ring guides are heavier because they are wider to hold the ring, and the ring is an addition, too. But I don't feel that there is any penalty because of it. All of mine cast great, and shoot line nicer than wire.
