Yesterday a buddy and I were fishing a cold water stream. Water temp. was about 62. I spotted a beautiful rainbow of about 5 lbs. or more sitting in a a pool about 3.5' deep. We passed nymphs by his nose for and hour, some even hitting him in the face, and still no takes.

Just for laughs, I decided to approach the fish from upstream (thinking he would quickly spook). I walked downstream towards him until I was only about 5 feet away. Still, he did not move. Nymph after nymph slid across his nose, but still no take. Finally, I made a quick movement and he moved down stream.

Is such behaviour normal for trout?
