Default What is the strangest fish you have ever caught?

My strangest fish would have to be a painted greenling. Here is a site to see one.

    sculp,

Weirdest was some sort of bottom fish in the Broken group off Vancouver Island.

Not even sure wat it was, ... but my brother ate it anyway. ... Some sort of cod anyway.

The meat was a tinge of light green
but turned almost white when cooked.

I'm sure it WASN'T a Lingcod, ... But I'm sure it was some sort of Greenling.

    Hey there Chris;
By your description ( " my brother ate it anyway") perhaps death by starvation would have been a saner choice.

If it had purple spots it could have been a common Green Ling.

    sculp,

We had the regs with us and I seem to recall that we though that was probably what it was too.

    Mark,

I'm not the most "sane" traveller ... Eating almost anything that offers itself to the plate. I "have" however contacted several (many) exotic travel companions. (I can't even donate blood anymore )

Wasn't just my bro that ate it, .. I did too.

Definately a "Razorback Sucker" out of the Colorado River.

It is an Endangered Species and very rare and I caught two of them and released them unharmed. That was in the 70's...

The strangest for me wasn't exactly a fish.It was a darn snake about 3 feet long. It got the hook caught in it and then it started rolling arond in the water and got about five feet of my leader wrapped around it. I got it up on the rock I was on and tried to get it unhooked but all it had on it's mind was trying to bite me.I finally put my hat over it's head and was able to get my leader unwrapped and my fly out of it.

I have inadvertantly snagged a few starfish. One was the size of a dinner plate that I caught while deep-sea fishing. I am also always snagging fresh water clams and mussels. I guess I spend too much time on the bottom.
    Your hooks sharp????

Caught a mudpuppy through the ice at night.
My daughter pulled it up. It was using it's front feet to pull at the hook.

You should have seen my daughters expression!
