I just got my (nearly) daily email from H&H
Normally I just hit delete, but this one I thought I should share
This is a good stick for short money

The simpler the outfit, the more skill it takes to manage it, and the more pleasure one gets in his achievements.

Dudley,
I don't know if that St. Croix has their new IPC and ART technology. If not, I'd spend more bucks and get the latest model. Until I bought my St. Croix Legend I always bought top-of-the-line rods. When I finally get around to buying a new 6-weight, it's going to be a St. Croix Legend.

The Premier does not have the ART or IPC tech. Those are both features of the high-end rods (Avid and up). The Premier is a little on the heavy side, but with a short 4-weight that's not a major issue. It was their entry level rod when they were still making it. The last year of production was St. Croix's first attempt at overseas production. It has been replaced by the Triumph as St. Croix's entry level rod. Having said that, when we closed them out here, I picked up a couple for my nephews to use and they seem to be decent rods for the money.
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.
I have one. Nothing premium about it, but it's a decent servicable rod. I've caught a bunch of fish on it and they don't seem to care that is't not a high end rod.
I like my Scott G2 and Sage SLT a lot better, but the St. Croix Premier is a decent rod that is good to use in those times when you want to take something that's not going to upset you too badly if it breaks.
If the price is right, go for it..
