Dust-uh-boo "feathers"

I was browsing in the dollar store and discovered that they carry cheap dusters made of an interesting material.
This stuff is amazing under water! Stiffer than marabou feathers, but not as stiff as bucktail. Color shows up well, and the lure has a pulsating shine.
Try it for yourself - it's only a buck. If you don't like it for streamers, you can always use it to clean the house...

Thanks for that tip...They look very interesting and I will have to check them out here...Also, do not pass up the feather dusters because they will provide an excellent supply of ostrich feathers!

I just returned from the Northern California Fly Fishing Federation in Redding, California. Tim Paxton, a tyer from Eureka, CA, uses these little mops for many flies he ties. They look really good and the price is right.

Don't judge this stuff by the way it looks when dry. Subsurface action is superb. It flows like marabou but retains it's shape. Very nice "silky" shine.

I bought one duster that had four colors, and another one that was a single color with longer fibers. (Peach is a very good color for steelhead.)

I'm still looking for a white one. Blue/white is usually a good producer on days when pink doesn't work. Green can be good too -- especially for chums. They also like cerise (hot pink + a little purple).
I'm rambling...
