I had a great day yesterday fishing the "artificials only" area below Beaver dam. My fishing buddy and I caught fish one after another all day long. For the most part we were working olive wolly buggers and micro jigs near the bottom. It was a beautiful fall day with a crisp blue sky and just a hint of a chill in the morning but warmed up into the high 70's by the afternoon. There was a stiff wind blowing as a norther was blowing in and supposed to drop the daytime highs into to 50's by the next day. There were lulls in the wind which allowed us to make further casts, but even when the wind was steady we managed to cast reasonably. There were gusts that would stop your cast in its tracks, as if your line hit a wall. And we spent more time than usual undoing wind knots and general line goobers. We couldn't complain about the wind however, since the fishing was so good. In fact i'm not sure that the wind didn't help us, as the surface ripples kept us less visible to fish.
