    Default Tiny Soft Hackles

Green Butt soft hackle/ my variant is the one minus the peacock.

Its a bit off, major glare to me is that it needs a longer hackle and a smoother tapper. But I bet a trout will eat this sucker anyway.

Very nice! Smallest I've tried is size 22. These look a challenge!

Wow! I'll have to double check, because those look much smaller. Different brand of hook maybe? I think mine were Teimco (or something like that, I picked them up quite some time ago, and the box was stolen with my fly tying kit last Feb.

Nice lookin little softies. Are those Mustad 20's, if so, they are slightly smaller than TMC 20's.

If you need really small peacock herl, look on the back side of peacock swords. There is usually some really fine herl there that works well for tiny flies.

If you need really small softhackle feathers, english sparrows aren't protected in most places, An air rifle serves well to harvest one or two. We have two parakeets in our nursing home, and my aides routinely pick up and bag feathers for me. I have some unique colors in very small sizes.

    Good lookin' flies!

The hooks look close to the size of a TMC 20s to me but they're bronze. Here is a size 20 soft hackle on a TMC I just tied up:
