I agree with Jeff's assessment of those wings. (Note to self: Make out an order for Cookshill.) I do prefer the lighter under converts, but that's just me.
I picked up a European Jay a while back for VEE. She gets the wings for her salmon flies, but I get the downy breast feathers for soft hackles. I don't have a picture yet, but Jim Slattery has a nice one .
I think your pictures came out very well for hand held with a flash. Nice and clear and almost shadowless. Well done.
As an aside, I just ordered a Snowbee-Waldron vise after reading about it on UK Flydressing, Sexyloops and Speypages. At 61, this is probably the last vise I'll need to buy. After I wear it out I'll just "in hand".
