    Default First Crappie Candy Fly

I really like the looks of this fly so I tied my first one just now and here it is....

Nice CC, Skip. That will work on the Specks. I use a yellow chartreuse (Needloft nylon yarn "bright yellow") CC also in addition to the original fluorescent green (Needloft nylon yarn "bright green") CC. I know Al used the fluorescent green wool but since I haven't been able to find that, I use the next best thing. I've found the size 8s to be a killer on the Specks just tied with small beadchain eyes. I would put up some photos of Speck catches on the CC but my image host site is down right now. Maybe later.

The Crappie Candy is the fly that spurred me to start tying. I was doing some yellow perch fishing and the CC was recommended. I couldn't find a similar fly at any retailers at the time. Fast forward a couple seasons and I had had enough. I bought my first tying kit.

Danville makes the yarn in FL Chartreuse. I also have the FL Yellow too. That one is on a #8 too.

    Thanks guys,

That looks really nice! I change up the colors to immitate the baitfish released by the other fishermen at the end of their trips.

One of the things that I 'found' lately is a brass pull-chain at a hardware store that is heavier and thicker than the silver ones I have used. I have been using them this year and really like the way they drop.

I usually use size 10 streamer hooks or whatever else is handy.

Here are some CC Speck photos:

These were actually caught on both the Improved McGinty and the CC.

The img code did not seem to work. Sorry. It seems to be truncating (cutting off) the url so I suspect that may be the problem. I give up.

There is nothing wrong with my URL links. The Bulletin Board is truncating (cutting off) the URLs. It is a Bulletin Board problem. Moderators please fix. Thanks.

Never mind. I got the links to work.
