I sometimes have trouble changing flies too; finding the hook eye can be a problem in low light or if my one of my contact lenses isn't cooperating that day.

If the bite is slow, I'll go to great lengths trying different presentations, drift paths and spots to land a fly before I'll break down and tie on a different one. When I do tie on a fly, I'll often keep on using a leader that's a little shorter than it should be as well, rather than taking the extra time to tie on a couple feet of 5 or 6X to lengthen the leader again.

I have big hands and dealing with fine tippet material takes me a long time sometimes. Glad to hear I'm not alone in that
