I really enjoyed reading everyones comments! I put down the spinning gear, and started fly fishing again for the same reason I am buying a 45-70 Sharps (built on an original action). I could kill more deer with a .270 and a high-powered scope, but I don't see the challenge, and it doesn't have the romance of stepping back to another era...

Back to FFing: A fly rod connects me to the water and the land, and let's me take a step back in time. There are no BASS boats where I fish, and I don't usually see anybody but the guy I rode with. I could fish the same spots with spinning gear, but for me the magic would be gone.

Technology provides tools to be used. So if you're fishing for the table, use what you can to become more efficient. I just fish to be fishing, and the beauty of the day is found in the weather, and the water - not in what I take home with me.

Just my thoughts,
