These are best for stripping and using wrapped for quill body flies.

also some streamers use parts of the eye as a wing,,,It is very beautiful.

    Redneck:

An interesting question. Like you I have a bunch of eyes in stock. I used some of them to tie a fly called Alexandra. It calls for peacock sword but the eye didn't look too bad. I don't think they are a sturdy as the regular herl or the sword.

I went to google and typed the words "peacock eye fly" in their search window and found several patterns which I have not tried.

I hope others will give you more info on this as I have a bunch of eyes.

Some eyes have a band where the fuzz is missing like this one.

If you trim the herls at that point you get something like this.

These make nice tapered nymph tails. Here is a fly tied with them.

    DDRRedneck500,

I've used the peacock eyes to make decorative pins for the ladies or just to pin one on a fishing hat. Tied them on to a regular large stainless hook, clipped the point off and glued a large bead on the end, wrapped a body of green tinsel or similar type material and tied a peacock eye or two on. Glued a clasp pin onto the back of the fly with a hot glue gun and away you go. Sorry I don't have the means to post a photo; but, that's the idea.
