What would you say if the body that governs 'track & field' decided as of January, 2008, to shorten the 100 yard dash and make it 95 yards. At the same time it stated that there would be no adjusting of the record books? Wouldn't you say that was crazy?

Well, it was done in baseball. The season went from 152 games to 161. Yeah, I know McGuire and Bonds broke the 161 season record and I think they both broke the 152 season record too. Aaron was a great hitter and had a career home run total of 755 surpassing Ruths record. However, I would not call Aaron a greater home run hitter. A few statistics:

A R
Games 3,298 2,503*
at bats 12,364 8,398
HR 755 715
Aver .305 .342
SLG .555 .744
HR/@ bat 16.3 11.7

* of which 391 were at Boston where he was mostly a pitcher.

Just thought I'd mention this.
