    Default Spot Burning in NH

I have enjoyed reading of Dave Pearson's time spent in New Hampshire in his Hemlock Homewaters column.
Over the years I have fished both streams he mentioned in his last two columns, they are not unknown.
The stream he spoke of last week flows for some of it's length through what has to be one of the most heavily tourist infested areas of the state. It's quite picturesque and receives a good amount of pressure right now but it's barely more than a brook.
The stream he spoke of this week is more off the beaten path. It's a fine stream and there's always cars parked in the turnoffs. Still this is no large river and probably receives plenty of fishing pressure as is.
IMO there was no need to Mr Pearson to put names to these streams. Photos and subtile hints would have been more than enough.
Part of the fun of what we do is "discovering" new places on our own.
Spilling the beans on the little places isn't helping anyone who wants a positive fishing experience.
The simpler the outfit, the more skill it takes to manage it, and the more pleasure one gets in his achievements.

    Hi dudley,

I thought long and hard about naming those streams before I did so.
I chose two streams which I thought were well known....heck, the first was written up in Fly Fish America!
The second is a bit more off the beaten path but IS stocked by the state.
I went to each at the worst time of the year and found fish.....though they were not easy.

I guess my point is that I gave away , what I thought was an "open secret".

All streams stocked by the state are to be found online.

Even so, I chose two that seemed to me to be the most "open "of the "open secrets".

I fished a LOT of moving water during my stay in NH.

I will name no other streams.

Though I found fish in each, save one.

I'm glad you enjoyed the stories.
First and foremost I aim to entertain
I'm not out to offend anyone.

OH! one more thing. If you go to New Hampshire, just about every blue line in the DeLorme Atlas has trout in it.
And there are a lot of blue lines

Just jump in your car and go see for yourself.
thats how I do it most of the time.

    All the best,
    Black Gnat AKA Dave Pearson
