    Default Winston Vapor/Sage Launch

Any input on these 2 rods? Are they built here or overseas? I know the vapor comes with a rod tube but what about the Launch?

both rods are good, but the winston is built overseas and the launch is made in washington state. Also they both come with rod tubes. I think you would be happy whatever way you go

Go with the Launch. IMHO it's a better rod and is cheaper.

I would go with the Sage, my brother has a Vapor, and really doesn't like it very much. We both have Ibis's which are great rods, so he got a Vapor when they stopped making the Ibis, hasn't had very good luck with it, and it doesn't seem to be made very well. If the Launch is anything like the old LE, I would go with it. My 5 weight LE is probably my favorite rod.

I recommend the Launch over the Vapor. The reel seat fell off the first time I fished the Winston that Drew wrote about above. If you're not 100% set on these two, check the sponsor page. There are several good rods in this range.

    John 3:16,
For what it's worth. (FWIW) When I was looking for a 9' 4 weight in a 4 piece configuration I checked out the Sage Launch and the TFO Professional. I lawn cast both rods with the same line. The TFO performed so much better for me that the problem of choice went away. It's not as pretty, it doesn't have a rod tube to go with it, and it doesn't have the name, but I bought it just the same. And, I'm totally pleased with my decision. I love using that rod, but that's just me. When I put one of Kathy Scott's furled leaders on the line, I started throwing loops so tight that they were actually fun to watch. I would suggest that you at least think about the TFO PRO.
Where you go is less important than how you take the steps.
