Here's my problem, my knot at the fly is too strong. Whenever I break off, it's always at the knot connecting to the leader. I don't like this situation for a couple of reasons. First, I don't like the thought of the fish swimming around with a couple feet of tipped attached to his mouth, especially if there was a dropper fly. Second, I really don't like having to replace my whole tippet everytime I break off, it seems an awful waste of time and tippet.

My knot at the fly is an Orvis knot and I've tried a double, triple and quadruple surgeons loop knot and a Perfection loop for the leader end. I really like the loop to loop connections for the leader to tippet, but I am willing to change.

Here's what I'm going to try. I'm going to practice my loop knot's a lot to make sure that poor knot making isn't my problem. I'm also going to test some other knot types for my tippet to fly connection.

What knot's do you guys and gals use and why? Do you have any suggestions for me

Thanks,
Luke
