Stop at Jimmy's all season anglers in Pocatello for directions to access sites on the Porneufe (probably misspelled) and South fork of the Snake as well as numerous reservoirs in the area. they've allways been helpful when I visited my brother out there.

My brother lives in Inkom just south of "Pocky". We have fished the Portneuf (I had to look that one up). There was a bar on the river years ago named "Whiskey Mike's". The bar was a rustic place, tree stumps for bar stools and it was somewhat unkept. The river ran just across the road. It was a small "river", more like a creek I would say, but it held fish.

Stop by the RedWing Shoe Store in Pocatello and talk to Dave. He is an avid fly fisher and could point you in the right direction. Also look for a book by Marv called float tubing the west, it has spots pointed out in the area.

I fished Batise Springs a couple years ago. Not bad for pay and fish. I did a whole day, but next time I get down there, I'm only going to do a 1/2 day. The fish are not as easily caught as one might think. You'll have a good time. Try it in the middle of September.

Me too. Only I did a half day....what a blast. BIG fish! Got lucky and fished it while Hoppers were Hot.

    Spike,
You should try Roger at Portneuf River Outfitters. He knows the upper Portneuf like no one else. His phone number is 208-202-4776. Also here is the web site for the local FF group in Pocatello. http://www.orgsites.com/id/seidahoflyfishers/

For Batiste Springs you want to get ahold of Bob Rowland. Phone number is 208-233-7417 and he can get you all the information.

    Good luck and enjoy.
