Trouts don't live in ugly places.
A friend is not who knows you the longest, but the one who came and never left your side.
Don't look back, we ain't goin' that way.
Betty,
OH what fun you will have using a wire leader!!

I saw more bears while DRIVING along the Blue Ridge Parkway one afternoon than I have in the last five years here in Colorado. Go figure.

I was in North Central PA in early June 07 trout fishing Pine Creek and neighboring streams for 5 days with some fishbuds for the first time. The Black Bears are an infestation out there. We saw at least 3 bears each day including one skinny mother who had 4 first year cubs with her.
I found that just a little too much nature for comfort.

I'm soooooo glad I don't live/fish in a place involving bears. Orvis has yet to post specific information about how to clean that out of waders.
Seriously - although I know that 99.9% of all bear encounters closely mirrow what Flyrodde went through - there's always those odd couple of times that the bear takes more than a casual curiosity or interest, as HMD pointed out.
HMD - WHAT HAPPENED?
Thank God for my wife, the midge nymph and those hapless Iowa Hawkeyes!
Hey Jordan, Skyline Drive/ Blue Ridge Parkway, I see them every day, we got bears, They are protected in so many area's around here, I'v seen a few, on more than one moutain...
"Because by the Grace of God I can, be on a beautiful mountain stream with a friend , have the water boil from a 12" Native Brookie taking a self tyed dry,and feel it on the end of my cane... It don't get no better than that..."
A bear is only news around here if it is in your backyard. Otherwise it is just part of the landscape.
For God's sake, Don't Quote me! I'm Probably making this crap up!
