I have noticed that fish bite better right after a large rain has cleared. I always wondered why. It could be as simple as more things floating in the water. I have a different idea. I think the gully washers displace them temporaily. They are in search of "THEIR" regular eating lane. Their "house". They are not comfortable where they are. If a meal comes by they are oppurtunists. I have caught many decent fish after a Gully Washer clears.

This photo is of a beaver dam that was recently washed. The shallow rocks and debris the angler was standing on is a dead give away of a washed out beaver dam. Just to the right of the photo is 5 feet deep hole in a typically very narrow shallow stream. Angler was rewarded nicely .
