Default A reminder about this extreme heat

    Folks,
Please be certain that you are staying hydrated. Drink plenty of water and the occasional sports drink to replace electrolytes in your system. Stay away from sweet, caffeinated, and alcoholic drinks while you are engaged in outdoor activities. I very nearly became a heat casualty at work yesterday. Doing lots of heavy lifting and not drinking enough water. We had another person go down today from the heat.

Here is a very good site o help you learn the symptoms and what to do for heat illness:

Temps in the east are expected to be near 100F next week with heat indices well above that. We have already had those conditions this week throughout the nation. Please take this seriously. Heat kills.

I spent wednesday in an attic wiring up some ceiling fixtures. I didn't have a thermometer but I would bet the heat exceeded 120 degrees. I could only spend 10-15 minutes up their at a time and I would come down to 80 degree AC and it would be such a relief. My shirt was soaked the whole time and in 2 hours I drank nearly 2 gallons of water. Heat is nothing to mess with, everyone be careful.

I'm jealous. Cold, wet and no fish here.

Our biggest problem out here is its hot and extremely dry. The ponds are getting hot and shrinking and the tidal water has gotten rather salty and hot so fishing really stinks right now. I can wait for fall!

Duhhhh! Isn't it WINTER down under right now? Hey, aren't you the same guy who taunts us with your balmy weather reports when we're up to our armpits in rain, sleet and snow? What's good for the goose...
