In 1966 the Heron road bridge In Ottawa Canada collapsed with the loss of nine lives and 57 workers injured.
In 1966 I lived 7 blocks from the Heron road bridge.
The Minniapolis accident has brought Heron road back to me after all these years. As a direct result of the collapse in the months and years to follow safety regulations were changed to make workers safer on the job. It is a sad thing that sometimes it does take a tragedy to get us moving in the right direction.
