After years of using flies like the Clouser minnow and the jiggy in both the salt and fresh water, and telling people (and having others tell me) about the virtues of the such flies, I find that I hardly ever use the things anymore.
I've finally come to the conclusion that heavy flies are a pain in the *** to cast and they're certainty not the only fly in the box that works.
In the last four years or so I've tied on a Clouser minnow all of 4 or five times, and I've got a box full of them
I for one would much rather get my fly down using sinking line than struggle casting a fly I'd rather not use
Fishing is what you do for fun. If it's not fun then don't do it.
