Betty and Mr Blur have helped others and are too shy to tell anyone, but word gets around, as a thank you to them they received a birch bark grip and a reel seat - can't wait to see their rod pictures -

the CD showing how to build a grip fron selecting the bark to turning the reel seat has been send to FAOL for posting - this CD was made while making their grips and reel seats - you will be amazed that you do not need expensive tools - hint - my calipher is an adjustable wrench -

My next grip and reel seat is being made for an injured Irag war vet who I never met but I wanted to thank him also.

    mike,
    Here's my question,
I harvested a bunch of birch bark this summer. Pressed it flat till dry. Comparing it to your grip, my bark is much darker.
Did I harvest from the wrong kind of birch? Should I bleach it? Will it lighten after sanding? Do I now have a pile of kindling?

So what spiecies of birch are you using? I may end up using this stuff for a grip just to practice.
