of the flyfishing short story about a fly fisherman who's in the hospital. As I recall (and I'm sure this is not totally accurate), the story goes that years ago he outbid a fellow fly fisher for a certain heirloom fly rod at an auction. These two fly fishers were friends but very competitive with each other. Now, years later he was in the hospital and his wife thought he was dying. The other fly fisher happens to bump into the wife and somehow she sells the rod to this person for next to nothing. She then proceeds to tell her husband about the sale of the rod.

Now I'm sure I haven't described the story correctly but if it sounds familiar, what's the name of it and who's the author?

Thanks.
