I really like the looks of these flies. I ddn't really care for the palmered look until I saw these. I'm going to pull out my starling and try tying a few.

REE, This idea helps retain the color of my floss, though it creates a different look for the body. I sometimes wrap the body in a clear ribbing material (take your pick; Larva Lace, Wapsi stretch tubing, even two or three strands of krystal flash), then coat with a cement. Nothing new, but it retains the color of the silk and makes a more durable fly. The stretch tubing can be stretched so thin it's hard to notice it on the fly.
