Thread: Plastic Slipcovers

  1. #1

    Default Plastic Slipcovers

    I have to ask these questions since I do see it once in awhile:
    • * How many of you out there fish a rod with the plastic still on the grip?

      * Why?

      * Do you realize it can be removed; much like the plastic film you find on new electronic products?

    Just wondering...

    Does that mean I can also take the paper off my car window with the price on it? Man, that would be great! I've been driving around with that sticker on my window for almost five years

    I am very cautious about things like that. I once did 2 years federal probation for innocently removing "THAT" tag from a mattress I bought. Since then, "lesson learned"!.

    PS: But is there a downside to NOT removing the plastic from the grip?? For no particular reason, two ( almost both) of my rods are still with plastic.

    My rods all have the plastic off, my son still has the plastic on his. His look much nicer than mine do, but I like the feel of mine

    No "slipcovers" on mine unless duct tape counts

    Take the plastic cover off. It is only intended to keep the cork nice for you before you buy it. The cork is on there because it is good to cast with. It can easily be cleaned if desired. Some like to let it get dirty, badge of honor I guess.

    When I was in Judo I learned never to wash my Obi, (belt) or I might wash the luck out of it. this goes back to the days when all belts were white and the more experience you had the darker it became, My grips are the same way, I would hate to wash the luck out of them.

    Isn't the feeling of plastic in your hand somewhat contrary to the reasons some folks flyfish?
