Hit the Lake Michigan flats a week ago, and the spawn was in full swing as usual, and it was difficult to determine if any of the fish were actually eating.

That being said, I managed one fish on my first of 3 days fishing, and it was a nice 15+ lber. Hit a beadhead olive woolly bugger, and before I could register it, the fish was in my backing. In fact, it probably would have been close to stripping my reel bare except it ran towards a bay that essentially cut off it's escape route. Beautiful fish.

I also caught a half dozen 2/3 lb Smallies accidentally -- they were fun, but it kind of ruins it when you're just trying to rush and get the fish back to their beds.

Anyway, I would say the fishing was good, but not great. Last year I caught 3 nice carp, but just getting one was a blast.
