I'm tying up a batch of saltwater "glass" minnows with white, green, and black "Flashabou" wings. To get the desired effect, I'm coating the head and first third of the fly with softex - that kind of latex / rubber coating that gives shape and protects from toothy critters. I get great effect by dipping the head of the fly, but then have the devil of a time getting all of the dried soft rubber out of the hook eye. Anybody have any hints or tips to ease the scraping with a razor blade and digging with a bodkin that I'm doing now?
