Grn Mt,

The boreal forest is a fire based system. Like the Yellow (ponderosa) plains in the southern interior of BC, but the cycles run about 150 - 400 years. They do get BIG though.

A medium sized (historically) wild fire here would be from 10000-20000 hectares (40-80000 acres). This year, they were large, not huge.

The firefighters worked to protect hydroelectric installations and a small town of about 15000 habs.

The aquatic habitas aren't really damaged as there is no real problems in terms of silt etc. There is some leaching of minerals and such into the waters, but nothing nature hasn't been handling for over 10000 years already

It's raining cats 'n dogs and we're smilin'

Forecast is for execellent weater in the next few days, ... clouds, 65's and light showers.

The river on my home waters should be PERFECT for our first outing this coming friday

The fires were mostly up north of 50 in the Black spruce boreal forest. My waters are down here in the "south". Had a really small fire, ... maybe 4000 acres in the game reserve next upper reaches here, but nothing to worry about.
