Firefighter's dramatic escape from flames called 'textbook' move.
This is something I've never seen before.

The one I saw last night was NOT a "textbook" move. It's a good way to break your neck. Once you clear the window you are to lock into the ladder with your right arm and rotate til feet are on ladder and walk down. I learned that 30 years ago as a Rookie firefighter.

How do you do this procedure in a calm fashion? I can say I would have the urge to 'Dive' out the window!

To do this any anything else in a calm manner you have to do it many time over until it becomes second nature. I do the out the window head first thing two or three time a month as does everyone in my volenteer fire dept, the guys that get paid to fight fires should do it more often.
