Everyone else probably already knows this pattern, but I stumbled upon a killer pattern for crappie this morning. I am ghost writing an E-Book on crappie fishing for someone, and I wanted to add a chapter on fly-fishing. Just to experiment, I wanted to combine one of the most sucessful fly patterns with the most successful crappie colors. Last night, I tied some small, weighted, bead-head Wooley Buggers on a size 10 streamer hook. I went fishing this morning, and the crappie tore these things up! I caught my limit (25) in less than 1-1/2 hours, + a bunch of bluegills and 3 white (sand) bass.

Hook: Cabelas Model 40 #10
Weight: lead wire-about 7 wraps. Bead on head
Thread: Black 3/0 Danville Monocord
Tail: White marabou with a few strands of white Krystal Flash, about the length of the hook shank.
Body: White med.Chenille
Hackle: Chartuese Chinese Hen Neck, palmered
Ribbing: Gold wire-small

Great research. So far I'm enjoying this project. I'm sure someone has tied this type of fly before. I would appreciate it if anyone could give me the name of the pattern, and maybe who did it, so I can credit it in the book.
