I have been fly fishing for 4 seasons, and been mostly a water thrashing, unsuccessful newbie. Yesterday things finally started to come together. Fishing with my head less than my body. observing the water. looking and thinking and lastly presenting the fly. Definitely a better approach. Two flies were all I used. Both from my own bench. A Deer hair Caddis with an olive body, caught all but one fish. The only other fish came on a Wickham's Fancy, and oh what a fish. A 19 inch fat brown, the Wickham's got totally destroyed by that fish in the 5 or 6 minutes it took to land him on my 4 weight. It will never fish again, but it will ride on my fishing hat in a place of honor from now on. my skills, as meager as they are, have greatly benefited from the great folks who run and participate at FAOL. So thanks JC, and LF, and to everyone who gives of their knowledge every day. I wish especially that heaven had e-mail, because I would send a great big thank you to Mr. Al Campbell.
