Hi,

This weekend I'll be making my first trip up to trout country in about 2 years. Here on the Gulf Coast, I mainly fish saltwater and warmwater. Anyway, it's been awhile since I've fished CW and I'm a bit rusty.

Now a question for you trout gurus out there: When do you prefer fishing upstream or downstream? Why? What cirumstances?

I usually fish upstream when using dries or emergers, as I wade like a water buffalo and coming up from behind the troutskies helps me spook less of them. I usually fish nymphs down stream in a dead drift, or at least as dead as I can get it, and I usually fish streamers, esp wolly buggers, downstream and across and sweep the bottom with them - as its worked well for me before.

I would love to hear how some of you CW specialists approach all this. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks-
