My young son and I are riding my motorcycle to Gwinn, Michigan in two weeks and three days. I've never seen a live steelhead but I'm going to try to catch one or more of those rascals. I'll be packing a five weight rod and an eight weight rod on this trip. I intend to stop by a local fly shop for some pointers but does anybody out there have some favorite flies or techniques that might help a steelheader wannabe?

This is Allon's first long distance motorcycle/fishing trip. He'll be eight years old soon and I want him to have pleasant memories of the time he spent with Dad. On the way up and on the way back we'll stay in motels but we'll be snoozing in a tent for four nights----a real camping adventure. Maybe someday, if the Lord is willing, Allon and his children (my grandkids) and I will have the opportunity to fish together.

Allon's gotten pretty good with a Johnson spincaster and he'll probably catch more fish than me. I think that would be GREAT!!!!!!!
