I wanted to find a good pattern to represent a Catalpa Worm, which is deadly bait around here. After an extensive search on the web, all I found were variations of a chartruese and black Wooley Bugger. After a few false starts, I designed this pattern. It really looks like a Catalpa Worm, especially in the water.

On the second fly, I tried to add legs to the front. I don't know which is better. I caught fish on both of them today.



I tied them using the Granny-Weave method with chartruese and black strands of Micro Chennille from Cabelas. I used a size 8 Mustad #37160 Hook. It's the same hook that is usually used for a San Juan Bow Worm. That's where I got the idea.

I can't find anything that looks like these on the net. Y'all think this might be a new pattern?
