Creel Bedding

Ok.Simple question (probally a dumb one) , am I supposed to put some kind of bedding in my wicker creel?

The traditional bedding was freshly picked ferns.

We always used hemlock... not much of that around here....

Certainly not traditional, but wet, long bladed grass and a flexible cold pack works pretty well.

So why do you put the bedding in there?

Moisture. Keeps them a little fresher for a little longer.

Back when I lugged one of those along, I alway put fresh moss that I had wet first.

I'm with you, Jim. I haven't gotten my fly line tangled up around one in years. I just felt like a true fly fisherman with one when I started.
