Bass Pro likes to set up with Mills malls. There is rumor that one will be opening in Ontario, though BP is being courted by folks in LA and Fresno.

Frank,
That BP did open up in Ontario this fall... along with a Mills mall (Vaughan Mills). That store sure is something else! Not as much fly stuff as I would like to see, but its better then none. It would be nice to be able to order from a Canadian Cabela's without getting dinged at customs!

I myself was saddened when they built one in my home state of PA,I kinda liked that when I ordered from them, that I got away tax free.but there are none here in NY...lol...so at the moment there is actually one whole bright spot about living here...the only one I've noticed thus far....

"I've often wondered why it is that so many anglers spend so much money on,and pay so much attention to.the details on the wrong end of the fly line.If they took as much care in selecting or tying their flies as they did in the selection of the reel and rod,They might be able to gain the real extra edge that makes it possible to fool a fish that has,in fact, seen it all before" A.K.Best

We were suppose to get a Cabela in South Jersey, we are too poor for Orvis. Looks like another 100 acres of peach orchard about to see the bulldozer... Now I got to pay 6% sales tax. One of out best and oldest hunting and tackle shops just went out of business looks like the rest will be going soon. I used to like Cabelas when they were just a small mailorder store.. FB.
Paul,
Uh, the OTHER Ontario. The one in Southern California.

3 Sportsman's Warehouses
1 Bass Pro Shop
1 Cabela's
3 or 4 "regular" Fly Shops (depending on how you look at Orvis)

Geez, pretty soon you'll have more acres of fishing stores than water.
Here in Bend will be our first Sportsman's Warehouse (now being constructed) to go with about 13-14 Central Oregon fly shops.
Ooops.
Well Frank, I didn't know there was an Ontario in California... Makes more sense in the discussion.
Chars,

Actually Paul, there isn't a Cabelas in Ontario, California.
I think, at least for some time, the closest of these stores will be the Bass Pro in Las Vegas and the upcoming Cabelas in Reno.
After reading the description of the plans for the Cabelas, it seems it will be very much the extravaganza that the LV Bass Pro is. Besides all the fishing hunting and camping gear it has huge tanks with fish, a stream with waterfalls, a rock climbing mountain, shooting and archery ranges, a boat showroom and full mounts of just about every big game animal in the world. At the exit into the casino it even has a huge saltwater tank with mermaid shows!
If any of you get to Las Vegas you should check it out.
