Thread: Woven fly patterns

    Default Woven fly patterns

Ive been looking at the woven fly patterns on this site. I am highly interested in them and about to start tying them.
    The question is :
Are these paterns any more effective that the standard paterns at attracting fish/ does anyone know of any more paterns than are listed on this site.
They look like something that I will enjoy .
    Any info will be appreciated.
    Thanks ,
    Perch

    perch,
In my experience, they are sometimes more effective than other patterns, but not always. They sure are fun to tie and look cool, though. Here is one that I tie using the Granny Weave, which I learned here from Al Campbell's "Granny Weave Stonefly". This fly has caught a lot of big bluegills and redears and some small bass.

alot of woven flies are a heck of a lot more durable than standard ties depending on materials used. and the can add realism to many patterns. also just do a google search about flies using weaving. there are also many methods of weaving which can be learned and used to make diffent looks on the fly.
    hope that helped
