I couldn't take it any longer so when my two year old fell asleep for his afternoon nap, I kissed my wife and headed to the lake.

After last weeks poor showing I hoped that another week of warm weather would bring the water temp up above 60F and hoped that all of the rain wouldn't put the fish in a disagreeable mood.

The weather was just barely cooperating, very windy and the lake is up a couple feet and more cloudy than normal.

I tied on a small yellow Bluegill popper and with a Rick Z white boa yarn leach hung about 12" below on my 7 1/2' 3wt and started flipping them out about ten feet from the bank which was abut all I could control. Working my way down the bank I was startled by several fish that flashed and took swipes at both of my flies. Missed them all. So with new determination I continued. My efforts were rewarded with a 11" Largemouth Bass taking the yellow popper. Scrawny little fish but it was a bass!

Then the the weather turned on me so ended my hour. What a great day!
