    Default Circle hooks

Does anyone tie warmwater streamer patterns with circle hooks?

    How will a Clouser work?

Any tips for fishing, setting the hook?

I tie some leach patterns with circle hooks and zonker strips with lead eyes. Circle hooks pretty much set themselves, when I feel the take I get any slack out and hold on.

    Bill,

I've used them a lot for warmwater bass patterns.

The 'key' to successful use of a circle hook is NOT setting the hook.

These are designed to catch and hold a fish where hook 'setting' is impossible. The hardest thing for me to rememe when using them is to just take up the slack and let the hook 'set itself'.

If you do use a hard jerk or even a moderately hard and fast 'pull' the hook just pops out of the fish's mouth.

Nice thing, they will help those who tend to miss fish land more.

    Good Luck!

I use them for bunny strips. Pretty effective. You can get circles at www.jannsnetcraft.com

Almost every Bass pattern I tie is on a circle hook other than clousers and foam poppers but i am experimenting with the foam poppers as we speak and so far i like the look but am unsure of how they will work. I also have several patterns for gills and crappy that work like a charm.
