Warm water,

It's very fine dubbing for small dry flies and nymphs. Just use whatever color dubbing to match the body color.

Here are some simple patterns to tie without expensive materials like dry fly hackle that would be good for trout and panfish:

Sparkle Duns (dry fly)
Hook: dry fly size 12, 14 and 16
Tail: wisp of sparkly golden, cream or tannish synthetic yarn (Aunt Lydia's Sparkle yarn is great, found in fly shops, but you can subsitute any synthetic yarn.)
Body: any of those colors for the body
Wing: Comparadun deer hair or coastal deer hair (same thing). A patch is about $3.00 good for about 100 flies, can be found at fly shops.

Soft Hackle wet fly:
Hook: Wet fly hook (or dry fly hook if you don't have them) 12, 14, 16
Tail: none
Body: all of those colors of dubbing are good.
Rib: fine gold wire
Hackle: 2 turns of grouse or partridge hackle ( You can get a package of grouse hackle for about $3.00 at fly shops.)

Nymphs (Similar to Gold Ribbed Hares Ear)
Hook: nymph hook 10, 12 14 16
Beadhead: optional
Tail: a couple of grouse hackle fibers
Body: all of those colors are good for dubbing, thicker at the thorax, thinner in the abdomen
Rib: Fine gold wire
Throat: a couple of fibers of grouse hackle as a "beard".
Wingcase: optional, or you could use duck quill or a piece of flashbou

Instructions and pictures can be found in the fly archives on FAOL for all these, just feel free to substitute dubbing colors, those are all good, and work for the above patterns.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
