So, in theory it seems that one should be able to tie on a nymph and a streamer on the same rig and still catch fish. To me this seems like a great way to use two fishing technquies at the same time to key in on what's working.

For example, if I put a stike indicator fairly high on my leader, then a pheasant tail on the end of that, then I tie a wooly bugger on 24 inches below that, I can cast up stream, dead drift the nymph, let it drift downstream, then stip the bugger back up. I have tried this a few times, but to no avail.
Has anyone else ever tried this? With any success? Or does the fly not being fished spook the fishies? Of course this would be a tactic used on a stream or river. Hope that makes sense.
