Lead Barbell - 1/60 oz

Med Brass wire
Claws - black squirrel tail
Double weed guard - Mason Hard Type nylon (25 lb)
zap a gap dumbell and weed guard
overall length 2.1 inches
fly rides hook up

Tying Instructions:

Tie in lead barbells near eye of hook (Clouser style).
Make a small ball of yarn at back of hook.
Tie in clump of squirrel and split over yarn ball. Length =barbell to hook point
Under body:Tie in yarn building up( not wrapping) 1/2 of length on the top side of the hook opposite of hook gap.
Wrap yarn trapering to eye.
Counter wrap body with medium wire
Tie in double weed guard.

The only thing a little tricky to explain is the weed guard. Cut a semicircle of the Hard Mason. Pinch the center of the curve (curve down) with your left hand between index finger and thumb. With right hand, fold back both sides of the Mason (opposite the curve) so the two sides are parallel. Slip the loop formed over the eye and tie in behind the lead barbells.

Tie the crayfish on with a nonslip loop. A quicker strip will cause the fly to pivot on the dumbell, and the claws will rise up in a defensive position then the fly will slowly settle back down to a flat position. The fish will generally pick it up between strips.

Good Luck and HOLD ON!!!

This fly catches Bass, Channel Cat, Crappie(bigger), Green Sunfish, and Carp
