    Default Calling All Irish

Or any honorary Irish. After a Canadian friend started this elsewhere, I came up with a St. Pats Day Wet:

    Recipe:
    Body: Green Wire
    Rib: Gold Wire
    Thorax: Yellow Ice Dub
    Soft Hackle: Guinea Fowl
Head: Nice and Creamy (ok, it's really black nail polish)

See what you can come up with and post it here!

Well this seems to have gone over with a resounding THUD!

Default I'll kick start it for you....

    Flyangler,

It's pretty obvious that the Irish don't fly fish.

Cuts into their drinking time, I guess....

    Good Luck!

    Default St. Paddys Day Fly

Sorry Flyangler. I just got home and read your post. It's a neat idea. Here's my contribution, if someone hasn't already done this one.

    The Shillelagh Bucktail

Hook: Cabelas Model 40 long shank streamer
    Thread. 6/0 Danville, Black
Body: Metlon Mylar Tinsel, Gold, med. width
    Tail: White Bucktail
    Throat: Red Bucktail

    Eye: Ti-Rite imitation Junglecock.

Sorry the picture isn't better. I am still learning how to take good pictures with it.

Aye, it looks to be the perfect fly to set between my Guinness (for strength) and my Tallemore Dew, yes it is.

    Nice fly!

BTW check the fine print on the label of that bottle of Guinness; it may be as Canadian as your friend!

While I may not be Irish (but, again, I could be... I was adopted at birth and absolutely love Guiness and Irish punk music (long live the Pogues)) I had planned on coming up with something this weekend. With an 8 month old baby girl about the house it is difficult to get time at the vice... but this weekend, Guiness and a lot of green floss...

    Very nice Gigmaster!

Jim- I think I'll adopt her Dark Greenwell's Glory for this thread. I like the looks of it.
