Yesterday a friend and I spent a nice long day of fly fishing on a nice stretch of water. Late afternoon, early evening brought us a thunder shower. Since we had broke our rods down we decided to make a little move and check out a different stretch of water. At one of the stops we made there was a heavy hatch of sulphurs. It wasn't one of those blanket hatches that makes fishing tough, rather one of those nice thick hatches that makes your heart kinda do an extra pitter patter if you know what I mean. At any rate, we stood and watched the water for about ten to fifteen minutes. We never saw one rise. I watched in all the spots there should be a rise and never saw one. We decided to move on to another stretch. Any thoughts on what to do when this happens. Should I have stayed and waited, or perhaps tied on a soft hackle or emerger and fished in the film?
