    Steve-

    Here's a few:

    from FAOL Fly Archives:

    Maybe an easier tie:

and another used upstate NY for Salmon and Steelhead that may work for you too:

Wooly buggers might work for you too. Good luck.

    Hi Steve,

I see that Peregrines has suggested Murray's Hellgrammite...I'll second that one. I've caught a lot of big bass on that fly.

If it's bass you're after, tie a few of these (I think they're called Sparkle Grubs).

    Hook: #6 Streamer
    Eyes: Nickel Dumbell
Weight: wraps of .020 lead wire (optional)
    Thread: Brown 6/0
Tail: Brown marabou with rootbeer krystal flash (3 strands/side)
    Body: root beer cactus chenille

This is also effective in white, black, and olive (change tail, flash, and body colour accordingly).

Tie it just as you would a Wooley Bugger. Fish it slowly along the bottom and hold on. Last year I caught a 21.5" smallmouth on that fly. It's my favourite fly for bass.

    Good luck,

    Default Hellgramites

A weighted black Wooley-Bugger, especially in smaller sizes, fished along the bottom nympth-style, makes as good a Hellgramite imitation as it gets.

Whitlocks hellgramite is another great pattern. I use this pettern for smallies here on the Susquahanna.
    Hook: Tiemco 300 # 6 slightly bent
    Thread: brown 6/0
    Weight: lead wire
    Tail: brown goose biots
Abdomen: brown and gray dubbing mix ( heavy )
Thorax: brown and gray dubbing mix
Legs: brown hen feather tied on top of hook
    Shell back: Mottled turkey
    Rib:gold wire
    Pinchers: brown goose biots
The hook rides up on this pattern so it gets snagged a lot less, but the smallies love it dead drifted!
Here is a Photo of it,
