I spotted a Ding from a stray tungsten bead near a guide in the 2nd section of my flyrod. Actually right on front of one of the single foot guides. It was unnoticeable unless you looked closely as this is a pre-IPC Avid. Since it was done by myself I counldn't send it in for the warranty. Also St. Croix wanted $50 for a replacement section if they could replace it at all(wouldn't know until I spent for shipping and insurance.). Anyway, I took some 6/0 blk tying thread and wrapped over that section about .5 inch and epoxied it. Fished it and the action is not any different. My question is does anybody out there have a better idea. I'm not a rod builder and used this sight to figure out the wrap and epoxy thing.I'm open to suggestions.
