Hi there,

My little guy who is soon to be 6 has asked for a vise for his birthday.

The reason is that my old vise he is using that I started with is pretty much shot, make that it is shot. I keep it because my father bought it for me when I started at the age of 13 and after 20 years of tying my new wife got me a new vise on our first anniversary.

While I don't want to break the bank, I do want to get a good vise that is easy to use, and one he will have use of for a while. It won't goto waste if he stops using it, I can use it for a travel vise or I have two other younger sons who sit on my knee and "help" (that is painful but nice).

I have been looking at a number of vises, reviews, etc. and while i have a Renzetti Saltwater Traveller Pedestal that I just love, I think that something like that is too much vise for him, with rotary and all.

I like the look, ease of use and stability of the HMH Silhouette but cannot get my hands on one. Do any of you have one? What do you think? Is it better in clamp or pedestal? For the money it looks to be good.

Thanks for the opinions.

Dwight
