Finally got around to building a furled leader jig...went simple for now and got it done with stuff I had around....used Kathy's distances.
Anyway I have done one leader so far and let's just say that I had to scramble my way through it and have a leader I think will work but probably has a taper never to be repeated.

So in the long run I think I want to do leaders of different lengths.... I'd like to know how you decide what lengths you want?...

I've kept a file on furled leaders and I see Jack Hise makes 5'...6.5'..7.5'...why did you pick those lengths Jack...trail and error...some God given insight?

Warren seems to use 7' leaders

kengore has a classy jig....

Mike Mcquire posted here his furled leader stuff on the Peninsula Fly Fishers site...he's got a short leader long leader set up with more tapers than Kathy...I wonder if it matters?

also it seems the final twisting can be done with a weight...like Kathy does [incidently I have her DVD]

or by reversing the drill....which is easier or better or is it just personal choice?

That's all I can think of for now...Thx.
