Not what you are thinking....

Lately I have been thinking alot about what flies look like wet, in the strem, soaked, and pushed around in the current....

Here is what got me thinking...several people I know make it a point to tie the perfect flies. Nymphs (PT) with equal amounts of legs on each side, accurate colors and ribs,...and things like that. True, in hand and lined up in a box they look great...BUT wet and dragged around the bottom of a stream they look nothing like the original tie.

Legs, well most get pushed against the body...not visible...Most dubbing real or synthetic get darker when wet...the colors of nymphs tied with darker colors "muddy" up and become a lump of wet brown materials....They look nothing like the original "dry" beautifull nymph....

So why labor over all the special additons...looks good to us dry...but wet it looks like a lump of.......

Just wondering....

Anyone got any pics of flies that are soaked?
